differences between 00-17 and some 00-15 Customs

Any of the Martin guys and gals here know the differences between these two models. Last year I stumbled upon a custom 00-15 with gloss finish, and no binding. I cant help but notice how similar this guitar is to the 00-17 customs out there, and even the original 00-17. The 00-17 custom is $2999 though.
