Thumbs up 2001 714CE not LTD

Got to tell it! I played a 2001 714CE (cedar top) that just blew me away! This was one super guitar. The look is absolutly stunning in a simple elegant way the sound will make the hair stand up on the back of my neck. Loved everything about it! Fantastic! Like it better than my 514CE. If I didnt have the 714C LTD coming that guitar would have come home. OMG is the best to describe it. Would take it over a 914CE any day. just had to tell it! JW

JW-

How does it compare to other cedar 714s? What kind of stuff did you play on it? How did it handle different attacks?

Ive played a few 714s but this one just got to me. this is the first 2001 714CE Ive played. It is drop dead gourgeous for starters. The tone was incredible. I played, These dreams (Jim Croce)Operator(Jim Croce)Pink Moon (Nick Drake)In the midnight hour (Wilson Pickett)Knock on wood (Eddie Floyd). Great finger picker. great flatpick and nice light strum. I own a few 14s so I dont push them father than I know they were designed for. It is an absolutly wonderful guitar and I would love to have one. I think if I were going into it real serious I might order one with no electronics. No down grade on this guitar matys. It is simple, elegant and one of the finest taylor Ive had the pleasure to play. It rates almost as high as my K14C at less money. I like IT! JW

I think it was J.R. who said the 714s are some of the most underrated Taylors in the line. I agree. And understated. Simple, almost unremarkable. But the more time you spend playing and looking at it, it just seems to come to life. Looks different at different times of the day and in different lighting. Hard to describe. Full, rich and clear sound. I love mine (2000, no c or e).

Cool

Very underated indeed, I just love the 2001 model, rosewood biding, koa rosette, and those little dots. Just wonderful! Anybody want to buy a 2000 514CE? hehe!JW
