Default Electric strings on my Takamine 12?

Hi guys,
Although I love my Takimine 12, I am getting to the point where I hate the string noise, and so I've been considering changing strings to the Rickenbacker half rounds that most electric 12ers use. Would this be a good idea? I have read on multiple websites that acoustic electrics sound better plugged in with electric strings. Is this true? If not, do you have any suggestions for strings?
Thanks as always,
Unplugged

I don't have clue whether they'll sound better plugged in or not, since a lot of the sound you get plugged in comes from the type of pickup used. But everyone I've ever heard try this ended up with the acoustic sound of the guitar being severely compromised.
For reduced string noise try these http://accessories.musiciansfriend.c...ngs?sku=101548
They also come in heavy gauge.
