Default Did Collings make a 45 trim guitar?

Hi all, I was wondering if Collings ever made 45 level trim guitars… I tried google but only got hits for cj45. User error as always is possible.

Would love more info. Thanks!

Collings will make various trims and tonewoods on their standard designs, i.e, d, DS, 000 etc.

On their site go to "explore" than "options" then "Acoustic guitars".

They have done 45 trim for a couple of milestone guitars (#25,000 I think was one) but it is absolutely NOT on the menu for order.

You can get a 42-style trim, vine/tree of life, and there are some other inlay options that can add gingerbread... but the pearl on the sides and back isn't available at this time.

Thanks for the info AMW! I found an old listing for one that the seller said was a 1 of 1 kind of thing. I guess he wasn’t too far off.

A guy at a local open mic had a sunburst D-42-ish Collings with him last month. That box looked really fine - plugged in so can't comment on the sound, but I'm sure it was "up there," as they usually are. (I jokingly commented that it probably cost as much as my annual SS income, but, then, I haven't priced one, so maybe not that funny after all )

I went to Down Home Guitars during the pandemic, with cash in hand, ready to purchase a Collings D42 Sunburst traditional. Visually amazing, yet lacked something. I wound up saving around $3000 and picking up a D1A varnish.
