Default Red Spruce grading

Hey all.

I was wondering if any of you could help me understand what the correlation may be between the numbering Martin uses to grade their tops vs what a wood supplier grades it. For example, if Martin says a top is a grade 8 (their highest grade) would that correlate to an "Artist Grade +" such as it is described on this site?

I realize there may be no way to do a direct comparison, but wanted your thoughts/opinions.

Thanks!

Hi Rob -

You might go over to the UMGF and search a bit, this may have been discussed. There are contributors over there in the wood section who really know this stuff.
