Default who makes a terz that costs less than $1,000?

I love the idea of a terz. Don't love the idea of spending a small fortune on one. All I can find are the fancy Martins for upward of $2-5k.

Any other options out there for something the size of a terz for under $1,000?

I saw one on Stephen Chipman's Vintage Parlor Guitar website awhile ago.

You might check there.

With a terz set you could use either a Martin LX or a Baby Taylor for that purpose. Either would put you well below $500.

You can find used Takoma Papoose for $300 - $500 depending on condition. I have 3 and love em. These are generally tuned A-A but you could tune them G-G and use a slightly heavier string set.

You may want to look for a Martin 5-16 which is an all mahogany Terz that sells for less than $1,000.

Kip -- I don't think that will work as a Terz. It's 25.4" scale. Isn't a Terz usually around 20", maybe shorter?

A terz. Okay. The only terz I know is the German word that means "a third" as in major or minor third.

Who can enlighten me as to what it means here?

It's tuned up a minor third higher, or 3 half steps higher than normal.

You can sometimes find Martin 5-15 terz guitars for less than $1000.

I used to own this one from the early 2000s shown next to my '51 Martin 00-17 and a Martin S1 uke. I ended up selling it because I didn't play it much. Too bad you weren't looking then.

The Tacoma Papoose is a great guitar if you can find one. Tuned to "A"
