Preamp for Yamaha LL-16D?
I bought a Yamaha LL-16D with the Yamaha Brand Passive Pickup.
It is a great sounding guitar acoustically but it may sound better with a preamp, when plugged into a Bose S1 Pro PA Speaker. What is a good preamp choice for this guitar with it's passive pickup?

Any high input impedance (5-10MOhm) acoustic preamp will work well with the Yamaha pickup. It's not a high gain pickup, but it does have individual crystals for each string. So, with a nice preamp, you should be able to get a good balanced sound. I just took one of these apart recently and the pickup was well made. I always go for a preamp with a mid frequency control. If you can also select the mid frequency, even better.
If you are looking for a high end one, I really like the SunnAudio DI2 analog unit. You can select the 5.7MOhm setting for the Yamaha. The other one I am using is the LR baggs VoicePrint DI, a digital pedal. But, I suspect any decent analog circuit on the market is sufficient. You don't need to spend half the guitar's value to get a good DI.

This is what I currently use as a preamp for my acoustic guitars.
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/det...river-di-pedal Is this good enough or will I see a big difference with a more expensive preamp/DI?

That’s hard to say. Some people report liking that inexpensive model quite a bit. It adds some “tube” like saturation to the sound, if I recall. So there may be more expensive “crystalline” sounding units, but I’m not sure if you’ll benefit. I would start with what you have and see if you’re satisfied.

I use a Fire-Eye Red-Eye with all my acoustic string instruments. Works great.
