Holy Smoke! No, not that kind, that’s a different kind…Now, where was I?

I would be in for that auction! What a great idea! I could see the winner getting any number of packages in the mail. A decent cable today, some picks and Velcro straps, a tuner, strings later in the week. Music gook of all types.

Why didn’t think of this? I am a solid open chord guy (gimme a break) but I can see some of you folks are playing waaay up the neck from me, you know? As long as we are all in tune…it could work.

OH! Before I forget, thanks to dnf777. Wood box dipped into his pocket and at least gets a prize, dnf777 just sent the money….everyone who took part in this are the kind of people I like to know

What a great forum.

Now, here is the deep acoustic principle that Shure finally admitted was behind the design of the 55's case: the grille on the '37 Oldsmobile Coupe!

This came out in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the design.

Indeed it is, JJ, but that's because of members like you and woodbox.

Lightbulb UPDATE

Hey all,
want to share that the Shure Super 55 has arrived.
jjbigfly packed well and shipped exactly as he said he would.
He is the proverbial “stand-up” guy.

AND he's funny.. has a great sense of humor!
Great guy to work with.

I’ll be taking the the Super 55 to rehearsal later today, and interestingly enough, comparing it to my band mates 30 year old Shure 55SH,
which is the same design of course, but has an on/off switch.
The new Super apparently has some “modern” updates to the cardioid pattern, so we’ll see if there’s differences in tone between the old and the new.

Full review next week following Valentine’s Day gigs.
