I’ve donated to my local Guitars4Vets and they were enormously grateful.

Our high school similarly has a program for disadvantaged kids that provides them with instruments and lessons. They take instruments, and of course, cash.

If it's a Seafoam Green 1965 Fender Strat, I'll send you my address. I'll see that it gets to the right home.

Guitars4vets is a great organization for sure but they will more often than not sell your donated instrument. If you want to donate to them, send them money to buy new instruments. They get great bulk rates from Yamaha and others.

I look for young teens at our church, or friends of theirs. I've put instruments into hands of organizations only to find them sitting around a year later. We have also taken them along on building-buildings trips to Mexico, Trinidad etc and played them while there and left them (with a case and dozen sets of strings) with someone before we leave to come home. Perhaps a church in your area has a building team going somewhere in the USA or abroad. |
