I use Dunlop 65 String cleaner. But I think it only help for clean the strings and prevent rust/tarish, not much help with extending the lifespan of strings.

Everyone's biology is bit different, but if yu wash you hands before you play and then have a cotton rag to wipe them down when done, that is 99% of it. I do use "string ease" spray, but not for cleaning, just make it easy to slide so they are not grabby.

I always wash my hands before playing one of my guitars. For my collector's guitars I wear cotton gloves when handling them - not when playing them. After playing a guitar I always wipe down the strings. I have not found it necessary to use a conditioner for my strings.

I think that if one uses a conditioner, care should be taken to not get the conditioner on the fretboard or the guitar body. It seems to be alcohol etc could have negative effects.

I wipe down with Fast Fret and use D’addario phosphor bronze strings. Fast Fret extends the life of the strings for me.
