Default NGD - Kronbauer TDK Engelmann/Cocobolo

Heya fellas,

After a disastrous botched custom job with an unscrupulous 'luthier' it's a relief to have a custom acoustic in my hands after 3 years of broken promises.

Trevor on the other hand has been awesome to work with!

I'm aware of his history and that dark period of time a few years back. But to bounce back and give life a second crack deserves much respect and support. So this is my little part.

I could've went with a local luthier in Australia but...funny as it sounds; I wasn't that confident in the quality and capability in Australia. Maybe it was my perception that the skills/culture of guitar making in Australia isn't as sophisticated or deep compared to Canada/US.

But...I will be looking to do a local custom build one day in Australia to prove myself wrong.

For now, its all about the Kronbauer.

In short.

1) Lovely overtones
2) Responsive to light touch
3) Seems to hold up well to light-medium strumming
4) Cocobolo...it does live up to its visual and aural reputation
5) Really projects well for a light touch making for an enjoyable playing experience
6) Soundport...love it! Just a 3d kind of aural experience
7) Shipping cost sucks!
8) Engelmann Spruce is really nice...the tone and the look
9) Looking at another order!
10) Fit and finish; high quality....simple, minimalistic

But what use are words without pics right?

Great looking guitar!

I'm a huge fan of his guitars. I've owned a few - hoping to commission a new one soon.

Im thinking of lending it to a producer friend of mine to 'babysit' it for week or so in return for high quality clips!

His exact words when playing it was:

"I could play this all night"

Mind you, he said it a few times!

That looks great. Still have Kronbauer high on my "hit list" of guitars I'm itching to play.

Congratulations and well done on choosing Trevor to build your guitar - it looks stunning and I bet sounds as good too.

Naturally there are exceptions, but I know what you mean by going local - been there myself. In the end for me it is about the number of guitars a luthier has built. Take a look at the reputable dealers that sell his instruments, add some reviews from a forum like this and you can't go wrong.

Yes Trevor is a nice, honest luthier and his guitars are great - like many others here I love mine!
