Default Wood mor and less likely to crack

It has been commented on in the forum
about how some woods tend to be a little more prone to cracking

--- are there any that are known for being more durable --- less likely to crack

and respond less adversely to moisture changes?

I've never heard of mahogany, sapele, or ovangkol cracking on this forum....

Cocobolo and Brazilian are the only ones I've really heard about...

Walnut, Koa, and Indian Rosewood I dont recall any instances, but I haven't read every single post in my time here

Oh yeah...I guess my mind just blocks out all those inferior tonewoods

J/K I've become a MUCH bigger maple fan in the last half year or so...its good stuff!

But back on topic, I've never heard of a maple guitar cracking either...

Seems that the problems are hairlines in Braz and Coco, or humidity cracks in the tops of guitars...

Any solid wood guitar that gets too dried is highy prone to cracking. I've seen it happen to Rosewoods, mahogany and maple.

Frank.

I've never seen a guitar crack on the b/s. I thought it mainly happened on the soundboard. Anyone have pics of cracked guitars?

Actually, I employ a small staff of people, each of whom has my password, and they post for me while I am away...

Its quite possible that weeks go by where I dont see a single thing that transpires on here!!!

And while I'm on the topic, BOY OH BOY was that NT neck a mistake!

It will be interesting to see what happens to the guitars being made today out of the slab sawn Braz that predominates the market. I suspect that cracking will be much more of a problem in these guitars as the years go by.
