Default Dehumidifier Recall

I fortunately don't own this one, but I thought I'd post it for others:

https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2021/tw...-fire-and-burn

2 million of them being recalled.
107 incidents of overheating and/or fire, resulting in $17 million in property damage.

Wow thanks for the heads up. This is the kind of post that helps make this a great online community.

Thanks!

Im a little concerned, as we have two GE models that look identical to the photo, but no GE models are listed. Seems like a chinese plant turns out millions of units with different labels attached. Is GE safe, or did their legal eagles just dodge the CPSC?

This is not the first mega-recall of humidifiers, so you may want to google on your model number and see if it was recalled at an earlier time. This is especially true if you tend to run your humidifier 24/7 without frequently cleaning the filters. This is when they overheat and become fire hazards.

I transitioned to the newer, safer type a few years back, but I'm sad to report that it doesn't work half as well as the older types that were recalled.

I had 2 Delonghi dehumidifiers. Both conked out after about 2 years.

Well that's one way to dehumidify your house.
