Default Fun Thread of Guitar Dollar Investment

I hope I'm within forum protocol, but after a few years of hanging here, I've often wondered what kind of total dollar value investment amount we have in this forum on just our guitars, from the regular posters. Not what they are worth, but the money we have invested in them. I'm thinking at least half a million??

If you're willing to play along and see what we come up with, I'll start it off:

My total value of what I invested in the guitars I currently own is $2736.00.

Anyone willing to see what kind of total amount we come to?

I'd be willing to keep a tally.

(If you can put the amount in red it will be easier to keep track.)

I will update total after every 10 posts!

Jack

Before 2010 easily $50,000. Now $450 on instruments +$300 for parts and strings, another $400 on recording stuff.

Absolutely no clue - I have some great vintage guitars that were selling for pretty big $$, but I have gotten every one of them via haggling, trades, etc.

I told a story a couple of days ago in one of those Good Deal threads about getting a few-thousand-dollar vintage Gibson by selling a First Edition book I bought for a couple of hundred bucks that I was able to sell for $4,000. I couldn't connect all the dots on all of the various book and guitar trades I've done over the years...

Right now, roughly 16k in instruments. Over the years what's come and gone, no clue. Gear, who knows. I certainly don't want to lol.

Monetary investment of current guitars (but not what I've spent over the years on total guitars which were previously traded or sold - that figure would be considerably more) = $6312.44. About half of what I would have spent if I had bought them new, BTW.

Surely you jest!! 100 members with a $5000 guitar (or collection) is your 1/2 million right there. I suspect there are at least 1000 members with more than 5 grand worth of guitars, out of the 76,000+ members.

His name is Jack, not Shirley
That was my feeling as well. With the membership here and the guitars I've seen in sigs, my estimation would be closer to 5 mil. That is an awful high number, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were close to reality.

Talking

Current collection: $6500 (including a mandolin)

I maintain that i've spent less on guitars in the last five years than my wife has on clothes!

I agree but how many of the members are regular posters and how many of the regulars are willing to participate?

Gotta gig, will total afterwards!

I've stolen all of my gear, mostly from unsuspecting members of AGF.

But, if I were to have purchased it, it would have come to (I was never good at trigonometry...hang on)...

$1,600
