If you ever wondered why Martin came out with a Jeff Daniels guitar
I'm pretty sure that Kelly Clarkson's reaction was genuine, because it was exactly the same as mine.

Been listening to that tune for almost 15 years since I heard him and Brad Phillips do it live one night.
Jeff is an incredible talent, a SMART human being, and a Michigan boy to boot. Cool version of it.

There are so many great tunes he's done over the last 20 years - hard to know where to start, but here are a few:
Blue Valiant Grandfather's Hat Across The Way Michigan in Me Kathy (song for his wife) Detroit Tiger Fan Blues (original version) Cover of Here Comes The Sun (with the story of him meeting George who signed his guitar) Are You As Excited About Me As I Am Orville Wright Gettin' good, Bein' bad Just a start. The two live albums at The Purple Rose and Grandfather's Hat are the best in my opinion. He also did an album with Brian Vander Ark (from Verve Pipe and another Michigan dude) that had some great tunes on it. The song Blue Valiant has one of the most brilliant chorus' ever in my opinion: I was Valentino, I was Mario Andretti I was Kaline in the corner, John Glenn waving through confetti The Legend Before the Fall, Bogart before Bacall I was everything I ever thought I'd ever be If they gave a gift to women there'd be a ribbon around me I was gallant I had talent when I was.... In my old man's - Blue Valiant Here's one of the good ones off Simple Truths (with Vander Ark)

Well, that was cool. I had not heard Jeff Daniels sing before. He seems to be emphasizing the country side with his vocals.
I think I liked his solo version better than the one with the mandolin. It looks like he is playing the Travis pick with just his thumb and index finger as Merle Travis did. - Glenn

As many artists during Covid, Jeff did a series of online shows.
Some of his ''gems" are in the mix....here's one of them.
