I'm sorry to hear about the scrimshaw artist retiring, but time moves on.

Thanks for all the replies on that question.

Default Superlative

Michael Watts did a comparison not long ago recording rosewood and mahogany guitars to compare. I realize yours is neither, but they were both Froggy Bottom and each was among the best I've heard anywhere.

Congratulations.

Lovely instrument.

I would be very interested in playing a maple Froggy just to see what he does with Maple.

Enjoy!

Thank you all for the kind words. This was not a custom ordered by me. It was 1 of 5 leftys at my favorite dealer, www.leftyguitarsonly.com I've played quite a few Froggys at his shop over the last few years. All were great. This was the best. They charge more for maple than RW or Hog. And now I know why.

And the skrimshaw isn't for me. Wouldn't order it if I could. Impressive work though.

Made a big mistake today. Played a couple of Froggies -- a parlor and an H-12.

First Froggies I've played, and it seems that they are worth the price.

They are fun to play. All that rich sound coming out of small guitars. Whatever comes into your mind, they can play it.

To the OP. Your continued enjoyment is not helping me any.

Default NGD: Froggy Bottom M Deluxe Maple. Lefty, of course...

Congrats. I have always loved the shape of the M. Such a curvaceous axe. They sound perfect to me. But so do the others.

They are worth the price. The Music Emporium has a 2002 H12 on sale for $4900. That's a deal. There are remarkably few used Froggies on the market.

I have seen lots of SB over maple, but that one is exceptional. The contrast is perfect...not overdone. What a nice guitar.

Congrats! Frogs are absolutely MAGICAL instruments. I've never had the opportunity to play a maple backed Frog, let alone an M-sized guitar, but if it's anything like the Frogs I've played, it must be super special.

I've actually been doing the unthinkable and neglecting my Frogs (I've been opting for the dryness of my Circa lately). A couple of weekends back I played my H12 and was blown away. It was like falling in love all over again and I kept asking myself why don't I play it more. Absolutely incredible.

Thumbs up

That is the most stunning top and burst combination I have seen on a guitar...a stunning Froggy Bottom you have there–congrats!

As for the engraving on the heel cap, I commissioned a F-14 from Froggy Bottom earlier this year (just got word it arrives in the next week or so) and I was also told I couldn't order with with a scrimshaw as the artist retired and they didn't have anyone else doing them at the time...kind of a bummer, as I think they add a unique touch to them, but I know it will still sound (and look) amazing!

Congrats again...that's a keeper!
