Yes, I am the guilty one who allowed Doug to come over to the dark side of carbon fiber by letting him play my first Emerald X20 that I got back in January (actually he had a Rainsong already). I since sold off the standard amber X20 and ordered a custom woody (quilted maple) with a blue-green burst.

I love the way Doug's new Cocobolo X20 looks and feels. The Taylor neck carve feels very comfortable.

Congrats my friend on your newest acquisition!! Looking forward to our next Tuesday night jam where we can do dueling Emeralds!!

Default Emerald X20 Woody

Thank you to everyone who has taken a moment to chime in and/or just have a look. I certainly wasn't the first to pull the trigger on a cocobolo woody and the future holds many more stunning Emerald models with various exotic wood treatments that I will enjoy seeing and hearing about too.

To those of you who have custom orders in progress, I can say first hand that the payoff was well worth the wait. My X20 sounds as good as it looks!

And by the looks of it, I don't think you'll be the last!

Glad you're enjoying it...

Dear Doug,

We are so delighted that you are pleased with your new X20 Woody (Cocobolo) Custom Shop. It certainly has been a very popular veneer choice since we built the very first one...

Best wishes from all the team here at Emerald,

Sean

X20, almost dead center, the one with the sapwood that curves in below the bridge. Mine will actually curve in a little lower.

What a beautiful composite image! Similar striking looks, but each unique. It was the first look at an image of an X20 cocobolo that made me take notice - Emerald is rockin' the cocobolo!

That X20 is so beautiful it almost makes me teary!

I'm saving up my ill-gotten gains (the money I get from refereeing footie is MY money -- separate from my paycheck which all gets spent by my wife on "necessities"... ) for the eventual purchase of my second Emerald. I guess I have a long time (at least through the end of the high school season in March) to agonize on whether I want an X20, and X20-12, a Chimaera, or a Synergy!!!
