Part of it for me is not having a friend/relative sharing my interest and being visually impaired I cannot do much in person browsing. So I want to really narrow down the field with tons of info for when those opportunities arise. I kind of bought the first one blind (pun semi-intended) but also applying info combined with a good deal. Living near Detroit there is no shortage of places to explore. Any further purchases will be based on playing them first.

No excuses here. I look. I touch. I play. Then sometimes I pays.

Hey at lest your browsing. My wife rolls her eyes every time that big ups box arrives. And she gives me a big sigh when I break out the big ups box to ship one out.

My wife gets some dental work done. She tells me she feels bad about the cost. She says, "why don't you get a guitar"? Now that's an understanding wife.

Mich Novice,

Consider that you are asking this question in an "echo chamber"

I have realized that just by coming to this forum, I juice my desire to buy another guitar. Maybe a little dopamine boost when I find a guitar worth pursing?

Like a used H&D hog TOM, or maybe an Eastern T486 in sunburst?

On the hunt!

Darn insightful questions, Mich. I had a Tak 12. Enjoyed it so much, I had to get a USA-made Guild 12. Then a fantastic deal on a Guild 6-string came up. With those two, I'm set! Well, except for that Gibson 6-string I've been watching....

Yes, this is my quest as well.

And I actually need a supporting cast of guitars, so I suppose I'm looking for "the one" in each possible guitar category.

There are lots of amazing guitars out there and I have yet to play most of them.

Sometimes I feel as if I am personally shoring up the US shipping industry.

I have a Pavlovian response every time I see a Fed Ex truck drive down my street. "Oh,boy! Anything for me?"

Many of us are likely guilty of the same thing. Too much time spent looking and discussing guitars, music, etc, when it is only our hobby. Time could be better spent elsewhere and it is a constant balancing act for me.

I'm not so sure my wife wouldn't prefer I look at actual porn rather than guitar porn. She's more afraid I'll come home with another guitar than another woman.

I have two guitars. I don't see buying another one until I come across something I really want. But that does not mean I don't look at lots of guitars, including guitars I would never consider buying. I think, when you get into something, you want to know all about it. You want to know what is out there, what companies make guitars that you think are good, what body styles, wood combinations, strings. What different shops sell.

I don't think, if I was sure I would never buy another guitar, that any of this would change for me.
