what guitar to compliment a 00-18?
so I recently got a martin 00-18 and its pretty amazing. piano like.. It just a diff animal compared the my taylor 310 and 312 I had... just so much more going on.. anyhow.. not that I need another acoustic. .but what do you guys think would be a good one to compliment it. not sure what direction to go next.. I guess I could just die happy with the 00-18

I've got one of Steve's faves too, and it's compliment is my McIlroy A30c. ComPLETEly different animal! If you want to stay with Martin, how about an OM-28?

Truthfully, just play the snot out of your new guitar and enjoy it. If there is to be another one it will make itself apparent to you over time.

I agree , you probably don’t need another one, but neither do I , and I’ve found a nice Martin mmv with rosewood back and sides and find it a good compliment to the 00-18. The rosewood provides a much thicker tone, whereas my d-18 sounds very similar to the 00-18.

By compliment do you mean something that sounds like a Martin? If so, then the 000-28 as noted.
After I bought my 00-18V I was looking for variety. If that's what you're thinking try going in a different direction. You've already had some Taylors. How about a Larrivee, which has a different sound, or maybe an Eastman? Or a Collings? We're lucky to have so many choices. If you have preferences on body size, nut width, cost, and all that, you could get some more focused suggestions.

I'm a big fan of only having one or two guitars. They start to just get in the way after that.
In order to cover as much ground as possible out of two guitars, I think a 00 and a dreadnought would be an amazing pair. Since you like mahogany, I'd recommend some iteration of a D18.
