2000 TAYLOR 714ce
This one has a few cosmetic issues, but she is structurally fine and sounds fabulous. Plays effortlessly up and down the neck and electronics work as they should.
The surface crack on the lower bass bout does not go all the way through and is very stable. The finish separation on the treble rim has not changed since the guitar came into my possession. Frets show wear under the unwound strings to the fifth fret. But she plays fine with no buzzes or other issues. Original issue case also shows wear but is excellent inside and all the latches work as they should. This is an excellent choice for the gigging musician who wants a fine stage guitar that doesn't have to be babied. This one has been played a lot and the tone is there to prove it. Priced to sell at $1,395 including PP and shipping in CONUS.No trades please. |

It’s not immediately clear from the photos whether the top is cedar or spruce. Longtime Taylor aficionados know which years this model had the cedar top, but I’m not that knowledgeable.
I briefly owned a cedar top 714, which was a magnificent-sounding guitar. Wade Hampton Miller |

Cedar
You can call Taylor with the SN and they can tell you for certain. I have owned a number of 714's since 94 and I can tell you they were and are all cedar tops. Someone may have ordered a 714ce with a spruce top but as far as my experience goes a stock 714 is rosewood with a cedar top up to 2001.
