They asked $2400.
You offered $2200.
They countered $2250?

I'd counter-counter-offer $2100.

I'd just contact the seller and thank them for the counter offer and their time. Explain that you consider the counter unacceptable to your budget, and that at this time you've had a change of heart and you wish to pull your initial offer. IMO Once they counter, your initial offer is essentially voided.

You may have integrity but you seem very condescending. What does your integrity have to do with anything being discussed here?

Maybe the gentleman didn't read the thread well.

I can beat that. I was sitting at the counter of a restaurant/bar with my wife and the shirt I was wearing had a collar that laid a little funny. I said I think I've bought this shirt twice. I bought it from the Goodwill and gave it back then ended up buying it again. The guy a couple of seats down totally lost it.

I did that once too. A guitar was priced very reasonably (below what I would've expected to pay initially) but I decided to put in an offer anyway to haggle a bit. While I was waiting for the seller to respond, I got an email from Reverb saying that someone else had also put in an offer on the same guitar. So I just said screw it and bought it straight up, in case the other offer was better than mine. I guess that's karma for being a little bit greedy.

I would of happily bought it if he would have accepted my offer. He didn't and I didn't, no harm, no fowl. Who knows I might buy it in a couple of weeks if I get in the mood again and it's still there. My panties don't get in a bunch very often anymore.

I made a reasonable offer to somebody once. They counter offered with the original asking price. I had to wonder about that one. I mean, what is the point of accepting bids if you are set on your selling price? Just to mess with folks I suppose.

I have a bunch of listings on eBay and eBay took it upon themselves to alter all of my listings showing that I’d be open to offers when I had no intention of doing so. That’s probably what happened there.

Update!

They have sent me an offer of $2,200 which is what I originally bid. Now they got me thinking again. I feel pressure of some sort. I was starting to eyeball a Waterloo WL-12. So many guitars and so little time, money, space, energy etc.
