Default any Marcel Dadi fans?

I found 6 Marcel Dadi albums at a yard sale a few weeks ago

and just starting to listen while I have some free time

right now listening to the album " Marcel Dadi No 3 "

he sure makes those Ovations sing

some of the tunes on this album are: Doc's Guitar , Old Aunt Dinah, and Windy and Warm

Nine pound hammer, black mountain rag, cannonball rag are all on side 2
good stuff
Chet liked it too , he plays on Dadi and Friends Volume 2!

Marcel Dadi, one of the greatest. A big source of inspiration, pure talent and humility. May his soul rest in peace.

A fan here, too...

Did you get some of the tabs, too?

Do you know about the tragedy?

no tab Pippin

and most of the albums are in French, put out by " Sonopresse " disques
Chet and Stefan Grossman talk about Marcel on the back of No. 3, and that is in English . Stefan says Marcel enjoyed the style of Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, and Jerry Reed, and incorporated this into his own sound.

I do not know about the tragedy....

Hi Docwatsonfan,

I asked about the tab since I got some attached with the Marcel CDs I bought years* ago. I even joined the mailing list of the "Atkins-Dadi Guitar Players Association" in France that time and got a few newsletters. I am not sure what has become of that...

If you are learning a tune or two that the tab may help, I would be glad to see if I've got them for you.

Pip

He was a great player, his instructional videos are very interesting, I really recommend you to give them a try if you're interested in fingerstyle.

Thierry Boucher did a great website about Marcel Dadi at http://www.marceldadi.com/menu.htm , all in french :-).
This websie offers several tabs in tabedit format, and the complete booklet of the 1st and 2nd LP as pdf files :
http://www.marceldadi.com/html/tablatures.htm
See also some handwritten tabs by Marcel at http://www.marceldadi.com/html/cahiers.htm

I discovered his first album (with the cartoon of him playing to mice on the cover) in 1976 and proceeded to wear it out. I still have the tab booklet, though it's pretty ragged by now. Did the same with his second album, 'The Guitar of Dadi." The Atkins/Travis/Hubbard material I still play today was what I learned from him back then. Still haven't got it right.

I lost track of him and did not know he perished on that TWA flight. I'm a little stunned at that...
