I want to be in a duo again, and get back to playing out.
Playing in the closet gets boring to me. |

To continue having fun, learn a few more songs. For me playing is a blast, I just love it!

I've decided I need to keep playing the Christmas carols I know all year long. It's been too hard (and stressful) relearning them in time for Christmas this year. Should have refreshed my memory (and my fingering) all year long. I hope to not make that mistake again.

I'm guilty of a lot of time here too, but I usually have a guitar on my lap, a pdf file of a tab open, Windows Media Player paused and AGF open as well,

My NYGR is to tackle "the folder," a collection of sheet music I've collected over the years from magazines and online and such. Included is Tom Turpin's "Harlem Rag," but a lot of it breaks away from the blues and rags. Also in The Folder is Ashokan Farewell, How Can I Keep From Singing?, Randy Rhodes' "Dee," Heart's "Crazy On You" (Intro), and a Fingerstyle arrangement for the Beatles' "When I'm 64." This all ought to keep.me busy for a while and away from the book section in the music store.
Another is to try to be GAS-free. I just got the Epiphone in my signature and the Alvarez AP66 is on its way...

i know what you mean. these days i feel like i really have no time to waste, and that even checking the forum can be time consuming. time is so precious.
i always enjoy reading your perspective. on the other hand, there are probably other places more in need of it, i'd wager. happy new year. |

To work through the rest of the song tutorials I've already got from Jerry... of Jerry's Guitar Bar.

I'm going to write this down so it sticks; consolidate to one exceptional acoustic and one exceptional electric and bask in non a.d.d. freedom! And stop frequenting classifieds...

To take some formal guitar lessons. A friend of mine taught me my first guitar chords when I was 16, C, F, G, G7, D7, D, and off I went, learning on my own. I want to take some lessons to pump some fresh ideas and techniques into playing guitar.
Also, I want to do an acoustic duo type of thing, doing covers, with someone singing and maybe playing guitar, and me on guitar. It's a dream I'd always had and I figure now is as good a time as ever to do it if any. |

My main aim is to just play and stop tinkering with tunings, string gauge and setup.
I've spent a few months in D standard whilst using Monel TR 13's which meant adjusting relief and then wondering why these strings weren't working on my 000-15M like they seem to for others. Eventually I put in a new taller saddle, more relief and went to Newtone 12-53's tuned down a semitone only and suddenly my guitar has the sound that attracted me in the first place. So I plan to keep it that way and enjoy it. Of course i may try the Monel lights just out of curiosity but a more likely experiment will be with fingerpicks as I damaged all my nails a while ago and for 2 weeks it was so bad I had to play with a pick! Happy New Year all! |
