Default Ovation CC-045 12 string vs Breedlove AC25/SR 12 string

I have the Ovation. Out on vacation and I came across the Breedlove used. Pricing is such that It would be within a 100-150 Would you consider the Breedlove an upgrade and worth the 100-150 difference?

Default Breedlove vs Ovation

The Breedlove is all solid wood, so I would consider that above the Ovation, but you'll have to decide for yourself which is a better fit for you.

I do know people who love Ovations, although I've never been a fan.

Are you sure? I know the AC25+ are solid wood. I did not see a plus on this one. It's on consignment at 475 w oJSX, thinking offering 425 and sell my Ovation. I'll go back and play it again in positions above 4 as I only spent a little time with it. I got my Ovation as it played great up the neck.

The Breedlove has the Fishman Classic 4T system in it. Haven't played using that system. Is it regarded well? I ask as I largely play through a PA

Open to more thoughts. I'm going to go at it again tomorrow. If I pull the trigger, it will need to be tomorrow as I am heading back the 1000 miles home early the next day.

The Celebrity line is the lower cost line for Ovation. I haven't found an Ovation yet, that wasn't easy to play all up and down the neck. But, your CC may not have as much bass as the Breedlove, do to body depth differences. I think, since you do intend to play them through a PA, it may come down to how the pickups stack up.

If the Breedlove is an upgrade at all, it's not much of one. I'd stick with what you have since you seem to be happy with it and finding a buyer for a low end Ovation 12 string after Christmas won't be easy. If you have to ask if this is an upgrade worth trading for, it's probably not. Save for something that really gives you gas. You'll know it when it hits you. .........Mike
