Default NGD: Bozo

This beautiful Bozo arrived on Monday. It is a unique guitar with incredible sound. The nut width is over 2 inches! Very fun to play. I have some Tomastik Plectrum strings arriving today which I believe will be perfect for this guitar.

An excellent companion to my Foley.

That’s really lovely - it’s got that old-school hand-made vibe which you just don’t see much anymore, but I find particularly nice - and a 2” wide nut? That’s really unusual -

Thanks! The nut width was definitely intimidating, but it is actually very comfortable.

It that an original Bozo? I recently just found out about Kotke playing one.

Cool looking guitar!

I take it Bozo is the luthier's name because who on Earth would choose the name Bozo for their guitar brand?

Bozo Podunavac

" Bozo built guitars for Leo Kottke, Reverend Gary Davis, Peter Lang, Bob Gibson and many other artists. In his later career he licensed his name and style to be used by Yairi Guitars of Japan. Bozo made some gorgeous instruments during his lifetime."

My favorite guitar is a 60s Gibson f25 folksinger. That had a 2in nut and flat board. One of the best guitars to play. But that is a fantastic looking guitar. Super unique looking.

What size is this guitar - how wide across the lower bout? I think most Bozo guitars I’ve seen before were pretty big, this looks smaller to me. Cool guitar!

I understand it is pronounce "Bo-zshow." The luthier was Bozo Podunavac.

Apparently the original owner challenged Bozo to build a steel string guitar that sounded as good as a classical guitar. This guitar was the result. A classical guitar with steel strings.
