Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2024
Not many inductees I would consider R&R but nothing too outrageous.
Nice to see some recognition for John Mayall and Alexis Korner. I wonder how Kramer, Tyner, Smith, and Davis would feel about the MC5 being accepted into a bougie institution like the R&RHoF?

Yes, let's not get into what is vs. isn't Rock & Roll because we're long past that. Which is convenient, because I'm thrilled to see A Tribe Called Quest get the honor they deserve. Just as rock people talk about how "today's music cannot compete with the TRUE rock music from when I was a kid, dangnabbit!", I find myself thinking popular rap for the past decade pales in comparison to groups like A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul. They were the big groups during my formative years, so I'm clearly biased. Dangnabbit.

Until Fogelberg is nominated I have no interest in what this institution has to say….

Totally agree. He'll always be Mister Rock & Roll to me.

Blue Öyster Cult has been selling superbly crafted rock albums and touring since 1971. They hit it hugely in 1976. Nothing but crickets chirping at the RRHF.

Eligible for over a quarter of a century, but still not inducted!! Shows what a travesty it is when they aren't there, but then neither are Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy or King Crimson - all far worthier choices than, in terms of rock & roll, comparative nobodies like Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, Tupac or any other rap artist in general.
