Default Contour gauges

Anyone use a contour gauge to get an eyeball on neck shapes? I thought it might be a good idea to include a picture of the neck contour of the guitars in the shop using a contour gauge. Looking at something like this:

Will obviously use some kind of padding between the contour's "fingers" and the neck finish.

Never, but that's a great idea.

Ive use the plastic one shown and no tape is needed. It does a good job till you get up to the fingerboard where it jams up. But you can fake it from there on. I very useful tool. There is a metal version but you will need tape for that.
