In praise of good techs!
I live around Akron and take my guitars to Lays Guitar Shop there for repair, and setups. They always over deliver. Took in my Yairi Doubleneck last week, bridge was starting to pull, common problem with these 18 string monsters. I thought I was in for an expensive repair. A week later its back, perfect, and at a very reasonable cost. Good Techs are worth something!!

A great tech can improve the sound of an already fine sounding guitar. A runoff the mill set-up man can't necessarily pull that off.
John Levan in Nashville is one of the finest. He can restore a pre-war Martin or some of the guitars lost by major artists in the Nashville flood. Those of us lucky enough to live fairly close to one of these craftsmen can attest to the difference they make.
