Default New Marketing Tool for Musicians!

Well, to be honest, I'm sure it wasn't designed with musicians in mind. But when I saw it the first thing that popped into my head was "no more press kit!".

It's basically an electronic business card (one of those things that makes you go "Why didn't I think of that?") but it has all kinds of interactive buttons that will link you to Email, Twitter, FaceBook, YouTube, ReverbNation, etc. I really think that electronic business cards will make traditional ones obsolete (especially with the advent of Smart Phones). I encourage anyone in sales or business or music to jump on this if for no other reason to lock down a good user name.

Their site does a better job of explaining things:

And here's my card that I made this morning in about 5 min:

Technology is our friend people! Let's embrace it and get more gigs!

Well, first of all it's FREE (Whereas most custom websites are not)

And it's not really meant to replace a website, but to be used in conjunction with the digital marketing/branding you already have in place.

Imagine this scenario... You go to a restaurant/club to speak with the booking agent. You have a smart phone and they do too. You say "Here's what I'm about (insert more flowery language here)" and bring up the QRS code for your electronic business card on your iPhone. The agent scans the code and instantly has all the info he needs on you: email, phone, website, pics, bio, reviews, referrals, and the aforementioned links to YouTube, FaceBook, Twitter, Etc. No more losing digits, no more hoping the agent plays your demo CD before he loses it between the car seats. Not to mention that now, if he digs you, he can pass along your card to someone else that might book you while still retaining your info.

Like I said before, I'm pretty sure that what I'm suggesting wasn't the original intent behind this product, but I thought it was a good idea and wanted to share. I, for one, am down for saving some coin by using a free app instead of a bulky, overpriced press kit.

At the end of the day your mileage may vary. Maybe it's not for you, but I think it's cool so I'm jumping on it.
