Default A very belated double NGD (Martin and HD)

Hey everyone. I've been so smitten with these two guitars that I never posted a NGD for them. One was purchased about 5 months ago and the other about 3-4 weeks ago. The Martin is one of those Gruhn custom shop 12 fret Dreads in Guatemalan rosewood back and sides. The other is a custom shop Huss and Dalton OOO in all walnut. Other custom touches on that one include a gold MOP headstock logo, unstained mahogany neck, and rope purfling along the top.

Happy picking everyone and apologies for the glare!

Cheers!

Mark

Please enjoy them. @ really nice guitars. I have 12 fret martin dread being built and I owned a H&D Walnut CM. Best sounding walnut I have ever heard. I don't remember how that one got away but it probably involved drinking!

Whoa, that H&D looks sweet. How does an all walnut guitar sound? Can you compare or contrast it to some other tone wood combinations?

. Some very nice guitars you have there. Like the look of the all walnut and the back of the Martin. What the difference in tone between Guatemalan rosewood and East Indian Rosewood? Enjoy!

Hey guys. I really appreciate all he comments. Both guitars are pretty spectacular but for very different reasons. To be honest....if you get a good martin then you know what you're getting. I think this dread fits that bill. I would say that the guatemalan rosewood falls between EIR and Maddy rosewood in tone. Not as much boom and bump as EIR and not as open and airy as the maddy. A good compromise in between. Those are just my rookie ears though. A keeper nonetheless!

I've always had a soft spot for Huss and Dalton. I live just an hour away and own 2. Great people and an amazing product. I really wish they got the attention they deserve. Just world class in every way. I was really nervous getting the walnut top, but I wanted to go for it because I was kind of "spruced" out. Redwood and Cedar don't seem to be what I was looking for. I knew H&D had done a few all walnuts in the past so I trusted them. Boy am I glad I did! The sucker is loud, musical, and woody. Oh boy what a treat! The short scale is a good change of pace too. I could not recommend Huss and Dalton enough. STELLAR!
