I definitely find the Newport better as well, however a lot of people seem to like the performance, I found it hard to clamp down hard enough.

OK, based on what I've read here I've just ordered a Newport.

I have a performance, but on some of my guitars it just don't seem to be a good fit. Hoping that the adjustability of the Newport resolves those issues.

I have the original Performance but would love to try the Newport and Performance 2. The Newport seems like a great design but I have definitely come to love the performance capo. I find that sometimes when I first clamp it on, it might not be tight enough but I just need to squeeze it once more and I am good to go.

Out of curiosity, is there a mandolin model? My biggest complaint with most of the mandolin capos out there is that the clamp system sticks out making it difficult to moved around on the first two frets. The performance or Newport set up would be ideal.

There is a Newport which might be good for your mandolin... Here it is on mine. Hope this helps but no pressure to buy.
(Sorry the pics are a bit dark...)
It is actually designated as a banjo capo...

PS. If it doesn't feel tight enough on your mando... I can send you out a thicker bottom rubber.

Default I am convinced.

I also found this to be a timely post. I need another capo. I keep a Martin at my office to strum when I work late- but the capos are at home with my other guitars.

I watched nick's video on his site and it really explains well. I will choose between the G7 performance models.

My performance 2 works great on my mandolin. It's my Martin OM-28 and that little sigma folk in one of the photos (2nd from the right in the rack), that seem to have the most issues with the performance series.

I'm quite sure the Newport is going to resolve that.

My guitar instructor recommended them to me a few weeks ago but I was on the fence about spending the $. When I saw this post I pulled the trigger. I'm big on customer service - heck, I'd pay too much for something I don't need from somebody that takes care of customers....

I am going to check that out. I was actually on your website and noticed the banjo model and thought about trying it with my mandolin. It's good to know that it works!

I am sorry to report that, after some further research, I think the capo Keith Urban is using... just may be not one of mine but a NS! Honesty impels me to tell you... but only in yellow so you can't read it
You can't win them all...

I received my beautiful replacement Capo today. Fast service from the UK to NZ in 3 days. Thank you again, Nick and Simon.

Great company. I mentioned on a thread in this forum that my Newport capo broke after about 6 months. Nick saw my post and sent me a new one within 3 weeks. Great people great company.

I have a black Newport, and love it, maybe even more than my Shubb. Have a black Performance 2, also, but it never clamped well enough to prevent buzzing and now the cam (or whatever) doesn't seem to work ... won't open when closed and won't close tightly when open. So, 1 for 2 ... .500 in baseball, not bad
