Taylor Academy 12vs 112ce
They seem to have different features but same scale and nut width….
Which one would you be likely to get and for what reasons? I’d opt for the Academy 12. I don’t need a cutaway or pickguard, like the arm bevel. Onboard tuner and different pickup type is not a deal breaker for me. If I could find one used inexpensive like, I’d get it.

The 112 is nice, but I own an Academy 12 (non-e). For the cost, the Academy is great. I've upgraded the tuners on mine, a bone saddle, a Thalia real wood pick guard, a nice Gator HSC, and LR Baggs HiFi. Still probably under a grand even after the upgrades. I also like that there is no cutaway or ES2. The bevel is a luxurious touch for sure, and I can live with no binding.

I’ve never owned the 112, but did have the Academy 12.
The 12 was a very nice guitar, decent tone, and a joy tomplay with the built in arm rest. Unfortunately, it left to fund and provide a new GAS! |
