Cool What's "On' Your Case

I was recently admiring the album cover for Neil Young's Decade and the cool stickers on the guitar case. I've always wanted to do something similar with my case. Unfortunately, I have the old, blue Martin "Steal Me" case with the stippled surface which doesn't take stickers very well. But I thought it would be interesting to see what's on other people's guitar cases.

So post some pictures of y'alls cases.

I remember when this thread concept first came up here not long ago.I also remember being one of the few who was vocal about how "low class" and "trashy" that made a perfectly good case look. In my humble opinion of course!

I never put stickers on my instrument cases until I played a concert tour of Finland and Sweden. At that time, in Finland in particular, every gas station in every little town had a sticker with the town name on it: Tampere, Turku, Muonio, Oulu, Tornio, and so forth. Of course I got stickers for Stockholm and Helsinki and Sweden and Finland, and when I got back to the United States I got stickers in the various places I visited.

Since then I’ve gigged in the Russian Far East, South Korea, Japan, Canada and the UK, and I picked up stickers in virtually all the places I played.

Fortunately I own a lot of instruments!

Anyway, whenever someone sneers at putting stickers on instrument cases as trashy and low class, I would say: “This is where I’ve been, this is where I’ve played music. Can you say the same?”

I like my little "Waterloo" badge and my "Gibson Acoustic" silkscreen. Anything more would be gilding the lily.

I had a box full of concert tickets with nowhere to put them so I put them on a battered case.

That was about twenty years ago. I now find myself with another box full of tickets to cover at least another two cases

I play country/bluegrass, low class and trashy is sort of my thing. Like Dolly Parton once said, "it takes a lot to look this trashy."

Only thing that's on my cases are case covers!

Close…it was:

“It costs a lot of money to look this cheap.”

Same sentiment, of course.

My guitars are too expensive to put stickers on the cases as it would hurt the value if I want to sell one. So, I put the stickers on my cat's Jackson Galaxy-style guitar case that we store her cat toys in. I love stickers so it gives me a chance to put them on something that is "technically" a guitar case.

I started adding stickers when I started attending jams several years ago. All black cases, all brown cases and all tweed cases kinda look alike, so I added stickers to mine to let everyone else know "this is not your case (and the instrument inside isn't either)."

Then I started making stickers out of labels (Tabasco, craft beer) and added them too.

My cases are distinctive, too. I’ve mentioned this story before on similar threads, but it bears repeating: once at the Anchorage Folk Festival I left my instrument cases in an inconvenient spot backstage, then went off to do something else. One of the stage crew picked them up to move them to the green room, and told me afterwards that several people stopped him and asked: “Where are you going with Wade’s instruments?” I didn’t even know all of the people who stopped him, but the cases themselves are instantly identifiable.

Trashy and low class as putting stickers on instrument cases may be, it has its practical benefits.

Basically none, with a single exception. My mandolin case is an el cheapo and it is covered in nearly every spot. Nothing on my guitar cases (which are worth far more than that lowly cardboard mando case).
