Played two Yamaha LS guitars
One had solid rosewood back and sides, the other hog. In this case I actually liked the rosewood one better. It really sounded nice. I believe the hog was 7 hundred and the rosewood $100 more at GC. If you are looking for a loud smaller body guitar this one is good. The necks and nut width were perfect for me (fingerstyle). They were both acoustic electric, but there are no volume controls (or any kind of control) on the guitar, just a strap pin jack.
Really nice looking guitars though. The pick guard really didn't look that bad either, but I would yank it off as soon as I got it home if I bought one. Like all Yamahas, they were built like tanks.
