Ah yes like the gigantic American sedans of the 50's and 60s we called them road yachts but then agin they did wallow down the road

My favorite episode of “Keeping up Appearances” had Hyacinth wrangle a demo drive in a Rolls. Richard did the driving and she then conjured up all these excuses not to return it to the dealership. Hilarious and so very “British”. (I am half and learned early.

This is one of my favorite phrases that means something TOTALLY different in British english than in American English. I first heard it in a story about an American young woman studying in London. A male acquaintance asked if it would be if he came by that evening and "knock you up"? She thought that was terribly forward of him and declined and may have slapped his face, before he explained that in England it just meant to come knock on her door for a visit or to go out for a walk or coffee or something. In America, it would result in a baby or at least an attempt at one!

To cope with the potholes Rolls Royce now offer an SUV. The only one I've ever seen was in Hanoi of all places. The liveried chauffer had to get out and persuade locals to move their motor bikes and carts in order to fit the car down a very narrow street.

Older RR models can be bought very cheaply because they are so expensive to maintain.

I had a walk around the very affluent borough of Kensington in 2016 and was shocked to see almost every second car was the new at the time Bentley Bentayga. It’s astonishing how much wealth there is in London.

I love cars, I am envious of this chance you got. I can only imagine how quickly that accelerated and apparently rode perfectly. Could not afford one of course, but that doesn't mean they should not build them for those who could.

I wish we had a wine glass holder in my car, my wife always carries wine glasses in our car, not to drink and drive, but she hates drinking wine out of anything but glass and when we are served in plastic somewhere, a trip to the car it is or we do an impromptu picnic somewhere etc.

Sounds like a fun and enlightening experience! I would have loved to have had the chance to ride in an all-electric RR.
