Bevel Laminates
I have the arm and finger bevels getting their Sapele laminates today. The arm bevel has a Desert Ironwood inlay which is much easier to imbed before the laminate is contoured to fit:
Thanks for viewing! Mark

End Graft Inlay
In addition to the inlay on the arm bevel we have a Desert Ironwood inlay going in the end graft similar to the one in the back graft:

That's just ridiculous.
Mark, you missed an "N" I believe. I think you meant to say "In addition". Phenomenal work. Just incredible. Wish I could afford one. |

Finger Bevel
This is starting to look pretty comfy!
I like bevels because anything you touch while playing a guitar should not be sharp Thanks for following! Mark

Shoulder Fret Markers
Meanwhile, I am making progress on the shoulder fret markers.
I whipped up this little miter box so I could make very uniform sized and squared markers from the burled Desert Ironwood sapwood I'm using Here I have the markers, purfling and binding being glued up to be ready for tomorrow. The fretboard itself is Desert Ironwood. I'm using it because it is tough as nails, no pores, hardly shrinks or expands at all and goes with all the other Ironwood I am using in the inlays. Mark

Radiusing the Fretboard
When I finish radiusing the fretboard it is my custom to write a little love letter to a guitar tech. Hopefully, it will be many years before it is delivered.
I'm running a triangle file along the fret slots to remove the edge because this helps keep the slots from chipping out when frets are pulled for refretting. Thanks for following! Mark

Thanks Nemoman. It seems to me a more comfortable guitar player makes for a better sounding guitar.

Love the round over on the cutaway and the contrast of sides and back color to trim, is definite but very tasteful
can't wait to see it finished

Building the Neck
I'm moving along on the neck
The fretboard has its radius and is bound. The shoulder markers are in but the small Desert Ironwood dots won't go in until the fretboard is mounted The Maple bottom laminate is being glued on. This will appear as side purfling lines. The sides are being joined. We have a beautiful Desert Ironwood burl center laminate to keep the theme. More to come!

Cleaning the Neck Blank
With the glue all set I have a number of tasks today. It starts with cleaning up the neck blank:
A wipe of Naptha brings out the pomelle figure on this Sapele neck. Thanks for viewing! Mark
