Default Sexauer '24

I have started my first guitar of the new year, A fully asymmetrical German spruce over Brazilian Rosewood JB-16. There will be a lot of snakewood, including the binding, the fingerboard, and the bridge. The top was acquired by me 20 years ago, and was said to be 30 years old at the time. The BRW back is very tight grained, extremely well quartered, and its only fault (as if) is being not quite straight grained.

Thanks for continuing to show the photos Bruce! Yours is the only builder thread in here I follow.

If I somehow find myself a bunch of $ before you stop building...ever consider an octave mandolin? Flat top, fan fret 21-22" scale...

You may have noticed I recently completed a Tenor guitar, my first. I love how it sounds and plays. Add 4 string and MultiScale and it would be pretty close to what you described. I might choose to make the template more mandolin-like, and a bit thinner front to back, but unless customer ideas are "wrong", my opinion is secondary.

I am maintaining my usual steady pace on the new JB-16. I have made the fingerboard, installed the rosette, and put in the backstrip. I have also made the braces, and will too be able to show them to you installed.
