Looking for Ventura guitars
Hi all.
I’ve been thinking of a guitar from years past and wondering why I ever traded it away. It was a Ventura v-12 mij with a Gibson style Headstock. I really remember it sounding extra ordinarily great. Anyone else played these or have a line on one? Haha.. maybe it was all just a dream Can’t find much online |

Ventura 12 string guitars were low end all plywood guitars.
Most of them fell apart by the time they were 10 years old. If you do find one, and it's in playable condition, I will be surprised.

Sorry no 12-string. I had a Ventura 6-string V200B for 30 yrs or so - sort of a Gibson knock off. It was my only guitar during that time. Several years ago I decided to sell it and tried to track down any information I could find.
Ventura guitars are, I believe, still being made, but not by the same company that made mine, and the old ones you are probably referring to. The original Ventura guitars were made in Japan during the 1960s to 1980s. The company that owned the brand was C. Bruno Co of Chicago, a large distributor at the time. Ventura was their in-house brand. They went out of business in the late 1960s and sold out to Kaman Music. You might search online for Bruno Ventura Guitars to see what pops up. Mine was showing signs of extremes in humidity - some warping of the top, bridge lifting, etc. Not surprising since it went from Arizona to the Pacific NW, and there was no humidity control applied. I've since learned better. |

I literally posted a thread yesterday about giving a V-12 away, but I found someone local who wants to take them:
https://www.acousticguitarforum.com/...d.php?t=640990 It sounds like he's most interested in the classical so perhaps we can work something out. I wanted to give them away locally because I'm not really interested in shipping them, but maybe you're local too? (Boston)

Wow, when I was learning early in the 70's. My Dad had a Ventura 12 string. Looked like a Gibson Hummingbird.
I learned allot on that guitar. How to break strings for sure. Learned allot about how to and how not to tune it. Found I liked it in open G and open D the best. No clue what ever happened to that guitar. Dad may have sold it in his antique store. Haven't thought about that guitar in a really long time. Thanks for jogging my memory. |
