Default NGD!!! A thing of Beauty!

After contemplating purchasing a new acoustic guitar for the past 2 months I finally pulled the trigger. Been playing more and more acoustic since I play at Church on my worship team. For a while I was looking at getting a Dread. Was looking at the Marting HD28V for a while but needed something with electronics to plug in. So it came down to the Martin HD28e Retro and the Taylor 814ce. Kept going back and forth trying to decide as both of these guys play and sound amazing. Then my local dealer up here got in the New Taylor 614ce's.

At first I wasnt too interested because it was a maple guitar never been a fan of maple acoustic guitars. But I have to say looks wise this thing was stunning!
My guy at Alto Music here in NY was like " just try it before you dismiss it". My curiosity got the best of me so I checked it out.
Blown away!! This thing sounds all kids of amazing!

So after going back and forth the past 2 weekends of playing the 3,
I Picked up the Taylor 614ce. It just absolutely sings!! Perfect balance acoustically and plugged in as well the ES2 system sounds amazing.
Just got home with it and I wish I had tomorrow off from work so I can just stay home and play this thing all day. Hats of to Taylor for making a great looking and playing guitar!

Those new Taylors are very intriguing. Can you give an comparisons to the other guitars you played in terms of tone, etc.? Thanks and congrats!

Congratulations on the new guitar. Don't have to look to know it is way out of my price range. I had read that maple could be a little bright...maybe too bright? I picked up an older Goya CF Martin solid maple guitar last weekend. I like the sound better than my mahogany AJ500M. Had them both at a local store today, and the guy behind the counter thought the Goya sounded very good, but he preferred the AJ. Like most things it is all personal. I seriously doubt many in your audience would know the difference. I wouldn't have a year ago. Like Rick Nelson said, "You've go to please yourself."

I have no doubt that you will love this guitar. Enjoy.

EDIT: You posted pics while I was typing. WOW !!! That is a great looking guitar. Who cares what it sounds like. I could sit and look at it for hours with pleasure.

Sure looks like a guitar which will serve you well for many decades to come, wouldn't mind trying one myself. Very silky top and beautifull flamed maple, what more do you want he?

Keep on rocking!

The Martin is a classic Martin Rosewood Dread. It sounds like a Martin should, but the biggest fall back for me was that I have a Taylor 214ce so the feeling of playing a dread as to playing a Taylor kinda kicked it to the side and I focused more on the Taylors.

The 814ce and the 614ce are very close but the 814 is a bit boomier on the low end where the 614 has a nice even tone through out. Not too bass heavy and very punchy sounding. Both are very articulate though you could say the 814ce sounds a bit tighter where the 614ce has a bit of a more open sparkly tone to it. No where near the harshness a normal Maple guitar would sound like.
They really did some great engineering with the woods and bracing as well as the torrefied top.

Looks wise the 614ce wins hands down. The appointments are stunning.
