Default New Taylor 900s

Has anyone played or spent any time with one of the new style Taylor 900 series? I'm thinking about a 912 or 914 so any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Default Taylor 900 series

Even though they've been revoiced the Taylor sound is still too bright for my tastes. If you're a fan of the more recent Taylor sound you'll more than likely love it.

Just my less than humble opinion.

I played 2 new 914ce (2015 version with arm rest) at my FLGS.
They indeed sounded differently from older 914s. New ones sound more rounded. I also compared them against a new 814ce and found that they sound different enough as different model series. To my ears, 914ce's tone justifies the price difference even ignoring the cosmetic differences.

I got one of the first edition 914ce models with the adi bracing.... I love it, I think it definitely sounds a little different than the older models, but in a good way. First guitar I've ever owned with the armrest too, it's definitely a more comfortable feel in my opinion. The Koa trim is insanely beautiful too! Look around online for any first edition models left, I got a great deal on mine.

I played a new 914ce and really liked it. It's visually a stunning guitar and the new armrest bevel made it very comfortable to hold.

Does anyone know if the new 912 will have a slotted or solid headstock?

It doesn't exist yet, does it? There are only GA and GS 900s for now. But going by other GCs, only the 12-frets have the slotted headstock nowadays.

I played a new 600 and 900 and still was Taylor bright to me as well. Also the new thin finish is nowhere as thin as the Lacquered Martin, Collins and Santa Cruz guitars. It still looks like it would restrict movement of the top.

I spent almost 16 bars with one last week.
It only took that long to decide I'd better put it back up on the wall and leave the store. I had my first rosewood-gasm. In 50 years of playing guitar I have never felt that way about a rosewood instrument. I can now see why some of you feel the way you do about them. If I tried to buy it, all I'd get in the end is a divorce.
It would make the perfect compliment to my pre Andy 618e.
Maybe next year and most certainty before retirement in 3 years.
