wish I had a rosewood. I like bass. But I get that from the jumbo style. One carbon, one maple. The mahogany slope isn't so tinny either.

I voted Mahogany.

Don't get me wrong, I like Rosewood for its complexities but I really like Mahogany for its basic, rich, deep, dry tones.

I could be wrong, but I also think there has been a gentle preference away from Rosewood to Mahogany, even amongst high end guitar builders.

I voted for mahogany, though I think the best guitar I have is Madagascar. That's what I think tonight, anyway.

I have both and prefer the hogs by tad. But I can't say it's the wood as the guitars are quite different builds.

I like mahogany for singing accompaniment and rosewood for instrumentals.

Don't worry about it. I can't remember seeing this particular type of poll in recent memory.

By the way, it's not a stupid poll at all. Being a rosewood guy the vast majority of the time, I was a bit surprised to see that mahogany has such a big lead.

Thanks for the poll, seriously!

I play fingerstyle and find rosewood to be a great strummer too. I like the overtones and reverb of rosewood for my style. I like cedar over rosewood too, much prefer it to cedar/mahogany. Just my thoughts.

You're welcome, you're right there's an interesting contrast between the market which sells rosewood as something more exclusive, and the fact that most people seems to prefer mahogany. I think many here have the feeling that mahogany has a more "authentic" kind of tone.

Default Great Thread!

I am Mahogany all day. But Rosewood seems to be the wood that is hanging on the walls at most shops and stores I have been to. but maybe that is why most of the Mahogany guitars are hanging on the wall of players like us! Clean low end, clear crisp highs and punch in the gut mids. All for a pinch less than Rosewood in price!

Hog Heaven!

Why is it that some people are not allowed to vote? (in this poll)
