Default NGD and the Gibson SJ-200 Trifecta

My foray into the world of the Gibson Sj-200 started with the purchase of a used but mint SJ-200 12 string. The super jumbo body size scared me at first, but I thought a 12-string guitar needed some body to go with it so took a chance on it. Low and behold, I was absolutely blown away by the sound and playability of it. I was hooked.

That led me to purchasing a used SJ-200 6-string. Once again, I was blown away by the tone and playability. I am well familiar about laments of inconsistency in this model, but this second guitar was every bit as good as the first.

Enamored by the experience with the first two guitars, I came across a used SJ-200 parlor and arranged a trade for it. It is a custom model with mystic rosewood back and sides (the other two have maple back and sides). This is definitely a couch guitar that has the same sound you would expect from a full-sized model. Once again, I found the tone to be consistent with the other two-- full, focused, and symbolic of a strummer's dream.

I am horrible with photos and the ones included below do not do this one justice. It has a very ornate abalone rosette and fret markers and a gorgeous headstock. Definitely custom features. And the mystic rosewood is a thing of beauty.

Congrats on the new SJ! That back wood is beautiful, as is the rest of the guitar.
