A dread is not my first choice when I reach into my closet, but make no mistake, I absolutely LOVE my Collings CW Indian. Total bond!

I find them comfortable and I don't buy guitars for how they look, I make music with them. With that said, many reads are just too boomy sounding for me. Larrivee makes a tight, crisp sounding dread that I love but it's one of the few I really like.

I love the sound. Not a big fan of the shape. Im a bigger guy and I still find that I'm more comfortable with smaller guitars. If I liked the Dreadnought shape I would buy a new D-18, fantastic all-around guitar!

If I'm going to be playing for several hours, my dreadnaughts make my neck & mid back ( between my shoulder blades) ache a bit, while my 000 is more comfortable, but the dreads sound great & are fun to play as well - I like them all.

Default i love the shape and look of a dreadnaught

the full waist doesn't work well for my position of playing, otherwise i would have one.

i think a good dreadnaught can do it all.

to the OP, not sure what style music you like, but check out Bill Mize and Ed Gerhard. both are fingerstyle players and use dreads.

Agree that dreads are fugly. I prefer 00, om, or jumbo. I like curves I guess.

People, look up the word hyperbole. That's how the OP is using the term hate here. Don't take it so literally.

Anyway, dreads are definitely my least favorite shape, but I don't find them uncomfortable to play.

I'll live with whatever shape sounds like a dreadnaught.

Well, I got rid of all the small stuff taking up space; got more D-28's; enjoy playing them; I think the D-28 is the prime example of what a steel string guitar should look like - lovely!

So, while maybe not alone, you are in a far different camp that I am!

I hate that big gloriously beautiful tone that you get from a killer dreadnought that makes all those smaller guitars sound little and wimpy. Dreadnoughts and Jumbos are my favorite.

I love them. IMHO they have become the standard of acoustic guitars.

Hate? Really?

I don't think there is a guitar in the world that I 'hate'.
