Default Breedlove 000 12-Fret Guitars

I've been interested in the 000 12-fret guitars that Breedlove used to make, but since it appears they haven't been made for a while I've never been able to find one to play. They sound great from what I've been able to find but curious if anyone here has any experience with them. The specific ones I've been looking at are the American Series 000's and the Cascade Series 000's. Also curious how they might compare to similar models from Collings, Santa Cruz, etc.

The Revival Series from 2005 on were superb! Top notch... Very comparable to boutique brands in my opinion.... If you don't believe me ask Joel....where are you Joel? He should be chiming in shortly.

Default Breedlove 000-12

I can never keep track of their series, they change too often.

If you can find one of the 000-12 frets with the square top before they went to the curved top. Those are excellent guitars.

Great guitars for the money but a tier below Collings or Santa Cruz. Stick with the American series. The Cascades are made in Korea I believe and are more budget oriented.

I believe that Preston Thompson may have had a hand in the Revival Series...though I could be wrong.

I've played a Revival D once in the past....it was REALLY good.

Interesting, I had no idea but from searching around it seems this was the case. Though at a certain point apparently they MAY have gone back to using their own bracing instead of what Preston Thompson had initially drawn up. The one I'm looking at is from 2012 but also has a square headstock. That said I'm not really sure when the change happened, if it even did.

Yep find a Jayson Bowerman 12 fret revival series and you will be very happy. Wish I had never sold mine!

I picked up a 000-12 fret presentation Revival Adi over cocobolo in a trade that was really quite something. It was briefly called the Skyline model and was the actual guitar built for and taken to/displayed at the 2012 NAMM show to announce the Revival line. Fit and finish-wise it was gorgeous and top notch. Tone-wise it was also very nice although I'd agree with the statement that it was a notch or so below your Santa Cruz, Martin Authentic, etc, counterparts. It was on the heavy side but that had to do at least some with the cocobolo which is a heavy tonewood. The only thing I didn't like was the neck which was a little on the thin side for my tastes. So I ended up trading it off for a Bourgeois Slope D.

Here's a link to the For Sale or Trade ad I had up in the classifieds that contains a video that I made showing the guitar and playing it a little bit:

The Recording King ROS-06 12 fret has scalloped bracing (not as slender as the Breedlove 000-M's), the back sides are laminate, the nut is 1 14/16", the Breedlove's 1.75". Both are lively guitars, the Breedlove more reserved, both similar enough that I think their sounds could be tweaked very close together with the right combination of string and saddle. Currently I have both with micarta saddles, the RK with Martin pb, the Breedlove with Elixir Polyweb.

Revival 000-M
scale- 25.5
frets- 12
upper/lower bout- 10.5/15
depth heel/endblock- 3.25/4
body length- 20.25

ROS-06
scale- 25.35
frets- 12
upper/lower bout- 10.85/15.15
depth heel/endblock- 3.2/4
body length- 20.5

...the early Revival series 000’s are consistently great guitars...when they come up for sale they are usually priced below 2000 which is one of the best values out there....my bandmate..who was the sales manager at Breedlove when the Revival line was developed... owns the 000 prototype hand built by Jayson Bowerman and I owned a stellar custom Santa Cruz at the same time...that Breedlove 000 compares favorably in every aspect to the Santa Cruz....
