Default Questions about the Taylor 254ce 12 string

What's the deal with these? I'm not talking about the DLX version but the all-satin version. Are they discontinued or simply back ordered?

Hi Neil, I just checked and the 254ce (non-DLX) is still listed on the Taylor website. I also checked Long & McQuade (Canada) and Cosmo Music (Canada) and both sites have it out of stock but available to order. Same with Sweetwater. So, thinking it must be backordered.

Thanks, Dru. I may pose this question to my local Taylor dealer as well. It's been about 10 years since I've written him a check!

FWIW I'm seeing almost a glut of 214ce DLXs in his store as well as at Sweetwater. I wonder: how much different is the 254 bracing than the 214? Are they the same?

Both the 214 and the 254 have X bracing. It's possible that the 12 string is braced to handle the extra tension but I don't know. Same type of bracing though (i.e. X bracing vs CV vs V-Class, etc.).

I'd like to get my hands on a Taylor 12 string myself.
