Default Scooped Mids, My Taylor 712, a Video, and Bring PopCorn

Okay. This is related to another thread about a Taylor 714 spruce top sounding metallic to its owner, and the question of whether or not the 700 series with spruce/rosewood has scooped mids. I find it to be a well balanced guitar, with a bit of growl when needed.

My thoughts on "scooped mids" and acoustics is summed up in the video, but I think it's a matter of: a particular guitar's bass response, player style, player hearing and preference. I've heard guitars that I thought had way too much bass response, and way too little. I played a Gibson J15 that could've used a boost on the treble e and B strings, but played another one a few days ago that was balanced nicely.
