Default Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-45ME

I was surfing through Ebay last night and saw a Refurb of this model that had been refinished by MIRC in black gloss. They put that ugly pickguard back on but the black gloss finish looked sharp.

FYI

Like many here I'm generally a fan of the Masterbilt AJ 500 series. A good one can sound fantastic. Somehow, somebody at Epiphone thought that pickguard looked good, and was able to convince the rest of the marketing team. My theory is that by now, they all know it's a hideous pickguard, but because it's been there for so long, they might as well keep it and pretend it looks cool.

You are probably right about those all laminate models. This one is all solid and used to be a satin finish vintage sunburst. The pickguard is shaped the same only faux tortoise shell. A number of folks on this forum (and elsewhere for that matter) have complained about the satin finish. I thought I'd point out this one with a black gloss.

That auction lasted less than 24hours! The gloss black must have upped the ante.
