Default Waterloo - Ladder vs X - which is better for our application?

Which Waterloo would be best for our application?

primarily strumming (usually with fingers but sometimes with pick)
singer/songwriter in solo setting
popular music (rock, pop, country, oldies)
vocal accompaniment (deeper voice)

Is the Ladder or X Braced better for this application?

I think you'd be better off with the X braced version unless you're thinking country blues or old-time.

I don't think the difference will be that large but if in doubt, the X-braced probably will sound less exotic and thus fit with more types of music than the ladder-braced.

Modern ears always seem to do better with X braced guitars.

What's more, they're more musically versatile. So I'll chime right in on the chorus like a harmony-singing chipmunk: go with the X-braced version.
