Do you do D'Addario?
I'm sure many of you will have received this in an email from D'Addario, but for those who haven't the history of the brand is fascinating:
Puts an end to the pronunciation 'debate' once and for all as well... Angus

Very cool story.
I still prefer GHS, but love the old pictures. |

What an amazing history!
I mostly play Mangan and Martin strings (monel) these days, but I've certainly played my fair share of D'Addarios.

very cool. I first encountered DAddario PB lights when I began playing out in the mid 1970's. I recall that between sweat, spilled beverages and cigarette smoke I went through several sets of strings a week.
I use mostly treated strings now as a practical matter (I have a lot of stringed instruments to change!) I'm still pleased with DAddario J-16s on some of my guitars. I have wisely moved away from bar gigs!

I’ve used a lot of their strings over the years. I still use their EXP16 coated strings on my mahogany dreads.
Interesting history. I enjoy stories like this very much. |

My standard by which all others are compared are their PB lights. used them for many years so for me it’s hard to beat them once they’re broken in. They did seem to wear out fast but thats probably because I only had one guitar back then. Now I like to try different brands and metals just to keep things interesting. Love the history!

Don't use the strings, but appreciate the story. 1680 goes back a ways. Thanks for the post.

EJ11 80/20 lights are my go-to string. I've never gotten a bad string after hundreds of packs and they are still cheap in comparison to most others.

Hi, I'm a long time D'addario user: EJ17s for dreads, jumbo, resos etc., and EJ16s for 000,00 and 0, but have flirted with Martin MA540/550 and the "T" versions. Pretty much all last me about three months when whilst neither "dead" nor untunable, look and feel a bit "old".
Thing is .... I LIKE changing strings!!! I recently estimated that spend between £320- and £400 ( $400-$500) per annum on strings. (that's basing most sets at around £10 ($13) a set I've also said (for years) that I dislike coated strings. Perhaps the bad experiences with the early Elixirs made me discount them. Recently ... for some crazed reason, I bought a set of D'adarios XS PB lights before Christmas. they are still looking/sounding and feeling fine. I've decided to put XS on my dreads, and my 000,00 and. guitars. at £20 ($25) a set, if they last six months - same expense. If they last longer than six months - then I'm saving money on them. We'll see.

I D’Addario everything. Strings, thumb pick, capo, winder, tuner… saving up those Player points for a t-shirt if they ever get it back in stock.

I live right near them on Long Island and after trying out a lot of strings, I liked EJ's and XS the best for sound, longevity and price.
I'm part of the rewards program and I recycle my strings with them. I did just get a T shirt. I got an email offering a free T shirt with a purchase, so I bought a set of XS for points and got the shirt. I got a free shirt with the free strings. I like the fact that they're local to me, but I also think they have the best strings for the money. And they give me good deals. |

My Taylor is getting a neck reset and with that, full treatment including new strings. Have played with Elixir for years but will now try the XS. Luthier says they are amazing. Looking forward to trying them
