'81 STRAT Walnut
Greetings electric players.........never owned an electric guitar until now. Just "inherited" an '81 Stratocaster with gold hardware and walnut body. Can anybody tell me if they are good playing and sounding guitars or just fancy showpieces.
Thanks for any input............. |

That would be the Gold The Strat model? They are worth a few bucks in good condition. Nice guitars, kinda bright, usually quite heavy.

I had the one pictured above, as well as the walnut elite strat from the same time frame. I really liked both, and had multiple examples thru the years. They do tend to be quite heavy but also really sustain. I’d be psyched to inherit that!

I just sold one, as pictured above after owning it since 1982.
It was great sounding, too heavy. I put a hum bucker from a 58 Les Paul in the bridge position. I hated to do it, but I loved the guitar and it was too quiet for me, at the time. My first mod. That guitar sounded amazing in position #5, (one off the top). |

Sweet!
Just checked it out. Looks like this is different than the other STRAT models in that it's a collector's series. As mentioned above, it's a heavy guitar. https://www.stratcollector.com/model...rat-1981-1983/ |
